IVS Lite screen shot         An issue has been discovered with the IVS Lite viewer when run under the Microsoft Vista operating system. This issue prevents the viewer from saving files. This is caused by a new security feature in Vista called UAC (User Account Control). It prevents ALL file I/O by ActiveX controls. This is why the Lite viewer can't save files. All other functions of the Lite viewer appear to work fine.

This is NOT something that can be fixed by changing a few lines of code, so there will be no fix. The next version of the viewer won't be an ActiveX control, so it won't be affected by this issue. However, that is a ways off. The Pro viewer, since it is not an ActiveX control, is not affected by this issue.

You can fix this problem on your computer by disabling UAC. You may find that doing this will remedy a lot of other issues you may be having with various programs. In any case, it's the only resolution available for this problem. You can find instructions on how to do this at http://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm. This article has three methods of disabling UAC. I recommend using the first or third.
